First item on the list.
After 12 years the inu-yasha manga has finally finished in Japan. It ends with 56 volumes and 558 chapters.
In other news the Concise Oxford English Dictionary has in its la-*test*-('") revision added the word “cosplay” to its pages.
There are rumors going around about a possible full metal alchemist 2.
And a third season of hell girl or jigoku shojo has been announced.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, R2 episode 13 came out last sunday, and episode 14 should be out this sunday.
It's releasing on schedule and has been for some time.
Other than that I don't follow the new releases that much, since most of the series I know about have been out for some time.

That's seriously messed up, but at least they got rid of a particular nuisance. Why do all people of that name in anime and games end up with that kind of personality?

news update. the anime Umineko no naku koro ni has been officially announced like the higurashi no naku koro ni anime it is an adaptation of a series of murder mystery computer games made by the dojin group 07th expansion.
note: umeineko no naku koro ni means when the seagulls cry.
Higurashi no naku koro ni means when the Cicadas cry.

alright I was a way for a week so I have a back log of news.
First off, the haruhi suzuymiya franchise has an official parody manga called Suzumiya Haruhi-chan no Yūutsu which has proven popular enough to have its own anime adaptation. The anime will be distributed on youtube.
A second full metal alchemist anime is scheduled to start airing on TV in Japan april 2009.
the anime series Birdy the Mighty is getting a second season this January
